About

JTW Discipleship is an extension of the app Journal the Word. In a season of difficulty, I began to explore ways to build an app to digitize my spiritual journaling. I needed a project to quiet my mind and out of that season the app was born.

The app is a simple tool to develop the habit of meditating on scripture. The idea is simple: Read. Meditate. Pray.

The app is now in its second version and I am proud of what it has become. I am thankful for the tools we have available to help develop these types of tools. While I did use A.I. to code the app, the idea was mine and I am happy with the way it has turned out.

This site is a place where I want to share the things that interest me. Things like podcasts and articles about life as a disciple of Jesus and exploring God’s creation with my family on micro adventures.

A word about A.I. I have found the A.I. tools to be helpful in navigating the language of coding and technology, but I will not outsource my words to the chatbots. I would rather not post anything at all than to let the chatbots write for me.

About Me

I grew up in the deep south of the United States and somehow ended up in Southern Ontario, Canada where I serve as a pastor alongside a close friend from my time in seminary where I earned a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 2022.

I enjoy spending time my time reading, camping with my wife Valorie and our four children and thinking about how good and gracious God is.
